Library Collection

Welcome to the Library and Information Resource Centre (LIRC) at PTVAIM. With a treasure trove of over 37,000 books, including e-books, a collection of more than 10,000 international and national e-journals, and 500 CD-ROMs, our LIRC is a gateway to a world of knowledge.

Located on the first floor of the building, our well-furnished, air-conditioned, and Wi-Fi enabled space is designed to provide an exceptional environment for research, study, and exploration. Our dedicated room for Ph.D. research students ensures that the scholars have the resources they need.

At LIRC, we’ve embraced modern technology to enhance your experience. Our LIRC is automated with a Barcode system, allowing you to access information with ease. Through our Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), bibliographic details are available at your fingertips, anytime, anywhere.

The heart of our LIRC lies in the Reference Section, boasting an extensive collection of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, and case studies covering various aspects of Management studies and related fields. Dive into our digital collection of e-books or stay updated with the latest trends through our periodical section, your ultimate “Information Powerhouse.”

As part of our commitment to providing cutting-edge resources, LIRC is proud to be affiliated with the National Digital Library, offering access to a wealth of digital resources. LIRC has created N.D.L Club and conducting programme.

Explore educational excellence with our collection of NPTEL DVDs, featuring lectures from esteemed professors across various IIMs and IITs. Additionally, delve into management-related subjects with our AMA DVDs from the Ahmedabad Management Association.

In line with our mission to foster continuous learning, LIRC is a proud member of e-ShodhSindhu, a consortium for Higher Education Electronic Resources initiated by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Plus, our association with SWAYAM, an initiative by the Ministry of Education and AICTE, further enhances our commitment to providing quality education resources.

Library & Information Resource Centre is providing access to more than 27000 e- books through ProQuest EBRARY BUSINESS & ECONOMICS COLLECTION through Institute IP Address.

National Digital Library
Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (NMEICT) has initiated the National Digital Library of India (NDL India) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources with a single-window search facility. P.T.V.A’s Institute of Management provides activation link to all students.

Library Rules

  • Usage of Cell phone(s)/Laptop(s)/Bag(s) is / are not allowed inside Library.
  • Consumption of food items or drinks (except water) are not allowed inside Library.
  • Pin-drop silence and maintaining library decorum is mandatory.
  • Any damage to Library Property will be dealt with disciplinary action.
  • Maximum 3 Books/ study materials are issued against 3 Library Cards to every student for 15 days. After 15 days of the issuance, the borrower of the books/study material has to return or get it re-issued for another 15 days (only 1 reissue is allowed). Rs.5 per day fine will be charged, if books/ study material is not returned back within the allowed issuance period.
  • Books/ study materials can be re-issued on phone (only once) to students.
  • If issued Books / study materials etc. are lost, students are required to inform library counter immediately to avoid levying further fines and follow the guidelines related to replacement cost along with the fine on pro-rata basis.
  • If Library Card(s) is/are Lost, Duplicate Library Card(s) shall be issued on payment of duplicate Library Card charges.

Plagiarism Checker

LIRC LIRC has purchased TURNITIN anti plagiarism software for ethical research practice. It is a digitalized, fully automated system for detecting plagiarism. The students need to check their project reports (Final /Summer) for plagiarism using this software.
LIRC has created an account for anti-plagiarism software URKUND with the help of INFLIBNET (UGC Autonomous Inter University Centre)

Circulation

  • Issue and returns of Learning Resources (Primarily Books).
  • Attending the Users’ query for effective interpretation of library rules and regulations.
  • Registration of new Members and issue of library Card for Users.
  • Assisting the users in locating documents in the library.
  • 3 books per student can be issued.
  • Fine of Rs 5 per day for overdue of books.

Information and reference service
The librarian at P.T.V.A’s Institute of Management is here to connect you to the information you need. We offer many services in order to meet the information needs of a variety of different patrons, whether you are a student, researcher, a staff member. We can help you to locate materials in our collections, use a variety of reference books, databases, and assist you in formulating effective search strategies to streamline your research. The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopaedias, dictionaries, handbooks, bibliographies, CDs, Management films, NPTEL DVDs etc.

Inter Library Loan
The P.T.V.A’s Institute of Management Library and Information Resource Centre offers inter-library loan service to its users for the books and periodicals not available in the Library by procuring them from other libraries. Our Library has the membership with American Library.

Users Awareness Programmes

The library takes an active part in the orientation program organized by the institute for the benefit of student in the beginning of academic year. They are taken around the library to familiarize them with various resources and services available for them. Training session are also organized whenever a new product or service is introduced.

E-Journal Database Service – ProQuest, J-Gate
Library staff directs the students for searching articles, data etc. from e- journal databases.

Remote Access Facility

The Institute provides remote access facility. The e-resources viz., E-journals, e-books, e-databases subscribed by the library can be accessed remotely. E-Resources can be accessed through web and Mobile Apps.

Library Online Public Access Catalogue (Web-OPAC)

Web – OPAC service is very useful for students for getting current status of particular book in Library. This catalogue includes an index of books, CDs, Project Reports, The online catalogue is highly versatile and user-friendly with simple and advanced search. The members can also check the bookshelf virtually using virtual shelf browser.

The Institute also has separate Common Rooms for girls and boys which are used for recreational purpose besides spending fun time with the fellow batchmates by the students. These Common Rooms have locker facilities for the students which they can use to keep their study material including books, bags, journals, project reports, etc.
