PTVA’s Institute of Management being a recognized Ph.D. Centre of the University of Mumbai, offers a Ph.D. Program in Management Studies to the candidate/s interested in pursuing Doctoral Studies. The Centre is well-equipped to allow the Ph.D. scholars to pursue their research in the most efficient manner and provides all necessary support to them to carry out high quality research work which would be truly beneficial to their study domain as well as the society at large.
The well-furnished, air conditioned and Wi-Fi enabled Library and Information Resource Centre (LIRC) located on 1st floor of the Institute functions as the primary information resource and repository for all research activities related to the Ph.D. Centre. It houses a growing collection of research reports, reference works, handbooks, case studies and so on. The LIRC has a rich collection of 10,009 barcoded books along with 2993 titles covering subjects such as, Business Management, Law, IT and related areas. The Reference Section of the LIRC has varied collection of Dictionaries, Handbooks on various aspects of Management studies and related areas. The Periodical section of the LIRC covers more than 30 national and international journals. Various reputed magazines and UGC recommended journals are subscribed regularly by us. Our LIRC boasts of a large- database that comprises over 9415 international and national e-journals and over 25000 e-Books along with 723 CDs and DVDs. The e –Resource section plays vital role in Ph.D. research.
Our Ph.D. Centre Committee comprises of well experienced and expert members from the fields of academics and industry who ensure that the students enrolled with our Ph.D. Centre get the best possible guidance and access to the information vital for their research work.
Candidate/s must successfully clear/complete

- The qualifying Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) in Management conducted by the University of Mumbai.
OR

- SET / NET / JRF Examination.
OR
- M. Phil degree from any recognized University in India by following the UGC guidelines regarding minimum standards of admission and passing as given in Regulation 2009 of UGC ( Minimum Standard and Procedure for award of M. Phil/ Ph.D. degree) issued by the University Grants Commission on 1st June 2009.
The admission advertisement/ notification will be released in the local newspaper/s and will be uploaded on the Institute website after the declaration of PET results by the University of Mumbai. Interested candidate/s must collect and submit the filled-up Admission Form for the Ph.D. Program which is available at the Institute Office during Office hours, giving all required details mentioned in the Admission Form along with the required documents before the prescribed date.
Upon scrutiny of applications, the eligible candidates will be invited for the interview and presentation of their Research Proposal in front of the Committee duly appointed for this purpose as per the guidelines of the University of Mumbai. The interview schedule will be communicated to the candidates via e-mail.
The list of the qualified candidates after interview will be displayed on the Institute Notice Board and will also be communicated to the qualified candidates via e-mail.
The admission to the Ph.D. Program at PTVA’s Institute of Management will be confirmed after the payment of prescribed fees. The research guides will be allotted to the selected students by the Ph.D. Centre and the letter/s of such an allotment will be issued within a week after payment of the prescribed fees.
- Mark-Sheets (all years and all semesters) and Convocation Certificate of Bachelor and Master Degree.
- Certificate issued by Thesis Section of University of Mumbai regarding clearance of PET or Relevant Certificates related to eligibility for admission in Ph. D Degree.
- NOC from the employer in prescribed form, in case, the candidate is working.
- Proof of residential address.
- Character Certificate from Principal of earlier college or employer.
- Migration Certificate if applicable
The selected candidate/s shall undergo the Ph.D. Course-work prescribed by the Board of Studies of Faculty in Management as per clause no. 13 of UGC regulation 2009, published in the Gazette of India, 11 July 2009 (ASADHA 20,1931)
The Duration of the course-work will be for a minimum period of one semester i.e. Six months and would be of 180 hours and would include topics such as Preparing a Research Proposal, Research Methodology, Quantitative Techniques in Research, Qualitative Methods of Data Collection and Analysis, Research Ethics, Computer Applications, etc.
The Candidate/s will be evaluated by the Ph.D. Centre in the Course-work prescribed the University of Mumbai. The Certificate of completion of the Course-work will be given to the candidate/s after completion of Course-work and evaluation on the basis of assignments, presentations and a viva-voce. The Course-work will be treated as pre-Ph.D. preparation.
The Candidates who have successfully completed the M. Phil. programme of University of Mumbai or of any other UGC recognized Universities as per the UGC guide lines from time to time will be exempted from the Course-work.
As per the guidelines of the UGC and the University of Mumbai, the Ph.D. program shall be of the duration of minimum THREE years and maximum SIX years from the date of the admission.
